Juno: you've heard of it by now, no doubt. Hotly tipped to do well at the Oscars. Widely praised by the critics.
I liked it. When you go to see a film that's received so much positive press, it's difficult not to feel some amount of anti-climax. While I felt this a little when watching Juno, overall I was highly entertained, and moved, and perhaps a little
enlightened by this film. Ellen Page is great, I totally fell for her tomboy charms!
Juno's parents sporadically inject rough wisdom into the film, and that guy, um,
what's his name, Michael Cera?, the guy from Superbad?, is his usual likeable and geeky
self. The film has some genuinely funny moments, some awkward and cringeworthy scenes (it captures teenage awkwardness quite well) and it has a good soundtrack too. It's a pretty good characterisation of the nature of various relationships (eg boy-girl, father-daughter, mother-daughter, old-young, teacher-student) and it put a smile on my face and a spring in my step on the way out from the cinema.
Yeah, I liked it. Go see it.
